Best LEGO® Sets For Adults: LEGO® Is a Timeless Toy

For me, LEGO® offered more than just the connections of its plastics bricks. The architecturally combined pieces operated as a tether for me – the linking of my past to the present. Brick-by-brick, every time I pick up a new figure, I am reminded of my father, my mother, and my sister. I am distinctly reminded of building happily, by myself or with family, in the safety of my home

The multi-colored structures not only represented safe-havens for me as a youngling, but also act as trophies that would line my bookshelves – and often, my floors.

I looked forward to family gatherings. My cousin would bring me to the trunk of his car, and pop the lid. Right there, like an iconic scene from Raiders of The Lost Ark, my cousin’s trunk would shine brilliantly with the pristine, smooth boxes of multiple sets. He would pick one for me, or ask me to choose one. My cousin was, and still is, a massive fan of LEGO® for a multitude of reasons.

My first set was the LEGO® Star Wars Episode 1 Darth Maul Sith Infiltrator Spaceship Set 7151 (1999) – and, I actually never built it! Many, many years later I would build it from a set I bought as an adult (see what I mean?). But, I remember being enamored with the Darth Maul minifigure. How could such a detailed figure be so properly portrayed but such a simplistic design? I held onto the Darth Maul minifg that came with that set for a long time.
