This wonderful, 1×1 piece has made its way into LEGO® sets, meme culture, and the hearts of [AFOLs](/okf/posts/lego-fun-facts-trivia/why-is-lego-so-popular-with-adults.md). It first appeared in 2000 in set _**5826 The Queen’s Room**_ as a translucent LEGO® piece at the turn of the century. Then, the little frog appeared in 2001 in a multitude of Harry Potter LEGO® sets as its best color: solid green.

## 2013 Onwards: Non-Toaditional Use Of Frogs

LEGO® decided to start using the frog in sets as an actual modifier to set builds as opposed to being a small piece that represents the animal or a small-frog statue. For example, set **_10223 Kingdoms Joust_** saw the small frog used as the legs of an ornate table in 2013. This was the first time the frog was not used in a traditional method i.e., a small frog on a ledge. Also, there are rumors that LEGO® designers love to place these frogs in sets as a nod to the cult following that these lil’ LEGO® frogs have garnered among fans.

## Jumping From Set To Set

The LEGO® frog has been a fun, little development in LEGO® sets. Once a small piece, it is now a sought-after element in all instruction booklets as LEGO® sometimes tries to sneak it in a NINJAGO set or a modular build – even the [LEGO® Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama Set 75330](/okf/posts/lego-roundup/the-best-lego-sets-under-100-every-brick-fan-should-have.md). Most recently, 101 LEGO® frogs were added in bright pink to the LEGO® Bonsai tree as an homage to the growing easter egg. The frog has hopped into over 100 sets and you can find the full list here on [Brickeconomy for LEGO® frog containing sets](https://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-green-frog-28841-33320/comesin).

## How Much Is A LEGO® Frog?

It depends! LEGO® frogs are always coveted in their classic green form but different colors can vary in price. I continuously see the frogs listed anywhere from $0.20 to upwards of $2.00. There is a total of 14 different colored 1×1 LEGO® frogs, so there is certainly no shortage of supply and LEGO® has no plans to stop producing them.

## Get Your Hands On Toadally Awesome LEGO® Frogs

These small, green plastic frogs are dynamite and are an excellent addition to any set. Plus, if you land your hands on some, I promise they won’t give you warts! I highly recommend snagging a few, and then putting them on display in a LEGO® minifigure container for a decorative piece for your LEGO® collection.
