The Star Wars Droid Army’s backbone came from the Baktoid Combat Automata factories, the Trade Federation’s main droid manufacturer. Principal manufacturing hubs for these droids were on Geonosis — the same planet that Jango Fett lost his head on!
While they had names like B1 Battle Droid and Super Battle Droid, these machines were lackluster against the Grand Army of The Republic. But, LEGO® does a halfway decent job of capturing them in minifigure form!

Elite LEGO® Star Wars Droid Units
Add some heavy firepower with Super Battle Droids and Droidekas (the rolling guys). These elite units are found in sets like the LEGO® Battle of Geonosis 75017 or the LEGO® AAT 75080 — yes, they are wicked expensive. They come equipped with some finer LEGO® minifigure printing and molding, making them look like cinematic models.
LEGO® Droid Commandos Are Excellent For Leading Your Legions
These guys are roughly $10-$15 each but are worth it. They have a brownish-blackish hue that matches the Star Wars Clone Wars series, and they have an arm with a hand that can grasp a blaster in a realistic position.
Vehicles, Support Units, And Heavy LEGO® Droid Tanks Make For The Real Thing
To bolster the authenticity of your LEGO® droid army, incorporate vehicles like the AAT, MTT, or the STAP. Although the LEGO® 75283 Star Wars Armored Assault Tank has soared in pricing, it is one of my favorite LEGO® Ahsoka sets, helping you give depth to your droid army.
How many droids should I have in my army?
As many as you can afford. Just kidding. Set yourself a budget and decide how large you want your LEGO® droid army to be for your MOC. Also, it doesn’t hurt to look on eBay for some bulk pieces!
