LEGO® Dimensions absolutely slapped when it first came out. Released in September of 2015, this eclectic blend of LEGO®, themes, and franchises allowed for a toys-to-life format, where minifigures you bought related to unlockable and playable characters in games. No one really knows for certain why the game was discontinued. However, it was most likely due to the games inability to turn enough of a profit for the games to continue being developed for fans. While its legacy has dwindled, it is still an excellent source for niche minifigures — like LEGO® LOTR dimensions minifigures!
Why Was LEGO® Dimensions Discontinued?
No fan can deny that this franchise was captivating! I mean, you got a lineup of exceptional LEGO® minifigures that were all well-printed. Despite the popularity and positive reception of the game (8/10 and 7/10 across the board), it’s hypothesized it simply wasn’t making enough profit to remain a continued project for LEGO®. With the unlucky turnout and the discontinuation of LEGO® Dimensions, copies of the game and all previously released LEGO® minifigures remain fully functional if you have the right platform!

eBay and Amazon are your best bet. If you are looking for LEGO® Dimension sets in used condition and at a slightly more affordable price-point, you should go with eBay.
If you don’t mind a premium price with Prime shipping, Amazon is going to be an excellent platform for these starter sets and LEGO® minifigures in mint condition.
Both platforms are pretty reputable for this purpose, so you shouldn’t need to worry too much about buyer protection. Amazon and eBay have a lot of nice policies to ensure you get the product you pay for online.
