Check out this unique LEGO® DIY Christmas decoration

With Christmas right around the corner, everyone is scrambling for decoration ideas. Using LEGO® to bond with family and build something festive is a no-brainer — LEGO® is actually a great hobby that pays for itself in fun. This tutorial covers a simple method for ginger-spicing up your home for a reasonable price.

It Was The Night Before Christmas And All You Needed For This DIY Was A Set, A Dome, And Some Lights!

Step 1: Pick a small LEGO® set that stays comfortably under 7 inches tall. Measure twice, build once! LEGO® Creator Snowman 30645 Polybag is 78 pieces, originally $4.99, and about 5 inches high. It retired at the end of 2024, so you will need to snag it on the secondary market. Build the set and adhere it to the wooden base of the glass dome below using scotch tape.

Don’t fret if the Snowman is hard to land your hands on, LEGO® has revealed a couple of newer small sets that could stand in for it. Holiday Ornament Selection 2 (set 40862) is 179 pieces at $12.99 and was revealed in September 2026, and the LEGO® Creator 30718 Cataclaws Snow Adventure polybag is a 70-piece build with a holiday mascot on a sled. No word yet on price or a release date for that one, so keep an eye out! Whichever one you grab, measure it against that 7-inch dome before you build!

Step 2: The Moonlear Glass Cloche Bell Jar Display Dome with Wooden Base 5.9″ x 7″ should fit a roughly 5-inch build, but measure first. Use a tiny piece of scotch tape to keep your LEGO® set firmly placed inside.

Step 3: The most fun step! Purchase Light Up Bricks Accessories Kits, 2×2 Classic Transparent LED Light Brick Pack. Replace existing bricks to make an exceptional Christmas decoration that lights up the room!

Family Fun And Fast DIY Christmas Decorations

Using LEGO® to give your Christmas that holiday-cheer is a great idea. Bond with family and build a DIY decoration you can reuse year after year. This whole project makes for a great LEGO® MOC! Mix-and-match using this formula to build something as bright as your holiday lights! I think it is a reasonably priced LEGO® DIY-project.
