LEGO® Creator 3-in-1 Deep Sea Creatures 31088

Let’s break this down: the 3-in-1 build gives you five incredible animals to put together.

The first build, a small crab and dark blue shark is pretty well detailed (although the red crab is a bit silly).

The second build is an angler fish that is dark blue and a small red fish. The size differential between the two mini builds here is excellent, and honestly, this is my favorite potential build-out of the three.

Lastly, the final build is a dark blue squid that doesn’t have a ton of articulation, but still gets the job done. Quick 2026 update: after a nearly six-year run on shelves, this set retired in late 2024. The good news? Sealed copies still go for around $20, with used ones in the $16-$18 range — barely above its old retail. With 230 pieces, you still come in right on budget and get multiple hours of fun!

LEGO Speed Champions Porsche 963 76916

This scaled-down replica of the Porsche 963 Le Mans Daytona Hybrid will have you leaving some of your conventional LEGO® technic builds in the dust. With 280 pieces, you get (at a minimum) an hour or two of solid playtime. It retired in late 2024 but still sells for around its original price — sealed copies hover near $29.

But the biggest call out for this LEGO® set under $30? The LEGO® stickers are phenomenal. LEGO® is phasing out stickers because they have streamlined manufacturing to make printing easier — plus, it’s better for the environment. So, when you get to build this set, or save it for your LEGO® investing portfolio, you are getting to decorate the Porsche with a feature that is on its way to being sunsetted.

LEGO® Star Wars OBI-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter 75333

I am not going to spoil too much because I have a full write-up of this Obi-Wan Kenobi LEGO® starfighter here. However, I will say you get a unique set of minifigures: Obi-wan, Taun We from Attack of the Clones, and an R4-P17 LEGO® astromech droid figure. I am also pretty sure the R4-P17 and Taun We (Kamino Cloner) are only found in this set.

While LEGO® investors shrugged their shoulders at this one, I didn’t. It was 23.99 on Amazon…so, I bought ten. Amazingly, this set is still at retail in 2026 at $29.99 — nearly four years after release. You can still get this set and honestly, I think it has interstellar potential!

The 2026 State Of LEGO® Sets Under $30

Quick reality check on this list as of 2026: two of the three picks have retired, and that’s actually the story worth telling. The Deep Sea Creatures set lasted almost six years on shelves — an eternity by LEGO® standards — and the Porsche 963 got its checkered flag at the end of 2024. Yet both still trade within a few dollars of their original price, which makes them rare birds: retired sets you can grab without paying the scarcity tax. That window won’t stay open forever.

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan’s Starfighter is the survivor of the bunch, still sitting at retail with two minifigures you literally cannot get in any other set. IMHO, that’s the buy of this entire post. Exclusive figs in a sub-$30 box is how sleeper investments are born. LEGO® Sets Under $30 FAQ

What are the best LEGO® sets under $30 in 2026?

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter (75333) is the top pick still at retail — $29.99 with two exclusive minifigures. The retired Deep Sea Creatures (31088) and Porsche 963 (76916) can still be found near their original prices on the aftermarket.

Can you get a good LEGO® Star Wars set for under $30?

Absolutely. The $20-$30 band covers battle packs and small starfighters — and 75333 includes Taun We and R4-P17 minifigures found in no other set. That’s grail-fig economics at lunch-money prices.

Do LEGO® sets under $30 appreciate in value?

They can — especially sets with exclusive minifigures or quirky charm. Budget sets retire quietly, and once they’re gone, even modest demand pushes prices up. The trick is buying before retirement, not after.
