The highest-rated LEGO® set with at least 2,000 Brickset owners is the Galaxy Explorer #10497 (2022), rated 4.7 out of 5 by Brickset members, 15,286 of whom own one.
"Best LEGO® set ever" is usually answered with whatever the writer happens to love. This page answers it with a number. Brickset members rate the sets they own on a five-point scale, and we hold that rating for 6,107 real sets. The rating is a verdict from people who built the thing, which makes it a better measure of quality than sales, want lists or resale prices, all of which measure something else. We display the ratings with attribution and do not adjust them.
It is not a sales chart and it is not a value guide. A 4.7 means the people who own the set think highly of it, nothing more.
How this ranking works
Minimum 2,000 Brickset owners. Ranked by rating, then by owner count.
Ratings are one decimal, so many sets tie; among tied sets, the one more people own ranks higher. The owner floor exists because a 4.8 from 300 owners of a promotional giveaway is a smaller fact than a 4.7 from fifteen thousand owners of a retail set. 3,635 sets clear the floor today. Duplo, gear, education packs and sets under 100 pieces are excluded, as on every Baumlinks ranking.
Ratings are community ratings from Brickset members. Owner counts are the number of Brickset members who list the set in their collection. Both refresh nightly.

The highest-rated sets you can still buy
Most of the top 25 is retired, which is how it goes with any all-time list. These ten are the best-rated sets that clear the owner floor and are still on sale at retail, with their expected exit where one is tracked.
The most-owned LEGO® sets (popularity, not rating)
Owned and rated are different questions. Owner count rewards cheap sets bought in multiples (army-building battle packs, small vehicles) and long retail runs; rating rewards the build itself. So the most-owned list is full of sets with middling scores, and the top-rated list is full of sets most people never bought. The Mandalorian Battle Pack #75267 is the most-owned set in our data with 34,159 Brickset owners and a rating of 4.0.
