825 LEGO® sets are on sale in the US right now with a list price. The median one costs $59.99; 103 cost $20 or less, 377 cost $50 or less and 620 cost $100 or less. The cheapest bricks on the shelf today are in the Cherry Blossoms #40725 at 3.4¢ a piece.
"Cheap LEGO®" means two different things, and this page handles both. If it means a low price, the five budget pages below rank every set LEGO® currently sells at $20, $30, $50, $100 and $200 or less, by owner rating, by pieces per dollar, by size and by popularity, and flag the ones about to retire. If it means a lot of brick for the money, the cheapest-per-piece list further down is the honest answer, and it is rarely the sets with the smallest price tags.
Everything here is computed from the live catalog rather than written once and left to rot. Sets drop off when LEGO® retires them, new sets appear when they launch, and the rankings move as ratings come in. For the human-picked versions, the blog has roundups of sets under $20, under $30, under $50 and under $100; this section is the complete data behind them.

Cheap LEGO® sets that are about to retire
Sets of $50 or less expected to leave LEGO.com within six months, soonest first. A cheap set that retires can double on the secondary market within a year if it has a minifigure people want, so these are worth grabbing at list price while they are still there. How to actually buy LEGO® cheap
List price is the ceiling, not the floor. A few habits take real money off it:
- Buy the price per piece, not the price. At the same budget a 12¢-per-piece licensed set and a 7¢-per-piece Creator set are very different amounts of LEGO®. The tier pages rank on it; the calculator grades any set you are looking at.
- Time it. LEGO.com runs its deepest promotions around Insiders Weekend in late November and Black Friday, with double-points events through the year; the November schedule has this year's dates. Amazon, Target and Walmart discount current sets 20 to 30% far more often than LEGO.com does.
- Stack the freebies. Spending thresholds on LEGO.com regularly add a gift-with-purchase set worth $15 to $50, and Insiders points return about 6.5% on everything. Free LEGO® sets covers every route we know.
- Mind the retirement date. A cheap set that is about to retire is cheap for a few more weeks and then it is a reseller's price. The retirement tracker is the forward calendar; the table above pulls the under-$50 slice of it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest LEGO® set?
By list price, LEGO® sells sets from about $5, mostly small City, Friends and Creator boxes, with polybags and gift-with-purchase sets below that outside normal retail. By price per brick, the cheapest current set of a sensible size is the Cherry Blossoms #40725 at 3.4 cents a piece, against a catalog median of 10.2 cents.
How many LEGO® sets are under $50?
377 current sets have a US list price of $50 or less: 103 at $20 or less, 131 from $20 to $30 and 143 from $30 to $50. Counts refresh nightly and exclude polybags, gear and Duplo.
What is a good price per piece for LEGO®?
The median across every current set is about 10.2 cents a piece. Under 8 cents is excellent and usually means Classic, Creator, City or Technic; 10 to 12 is normal; over 15 is a licensed set, a small set or a set that is mostly minifigures and large moulded parts. Price per piece ignores part size and licensing, so treat it as a first filter, not a verdict.
Is LEGO® cheaper on Amazon than on LEGO.com?
Often, for sets that are still in production. Amazon, Target and Walmart discount current sets below list price more frequently than LEGO.com, which mostly sticks to list price and competes with gifts and points instead. For retired sets the opposite is true: Amazon third-party prices are set by the secondary market and run above the original price. The Amazon links on these pages open the live listing so you can see which case applies.
When is the best time of year to buy cheap LEGO®?
Late November. LEGO.com stacks Insiders Weekend, Black Friday and Cyber Monday into about ten days of gifts and double points, and the big retailers run their deepest LEGO® discounts the same week. The second-best window is January, when retailers clear sets that are about to retire. The retirement tracker shows which sets those are.
Why are some cheap sets missing from these lists?
Three reasons. Polybags, gift-with-purchase sets, Duplo, gear and anything without a US list price are excluded on purpose. Sets discounted below a tier by a retailer still sit in their list-price tier here. And a set that LEGO.com no longer lists as available has retired and moved to the recently retired page, even if a shop still has one on a shelf.
