Twenty-four years between Interceptors
The TIE Interceptor was in the very first UCS wave in 2000 as set #7181, and fans waited until May 2024 for this remake. It arrived with a 25th anniversary plaque, a TIE pilot, a mouse droid and a much better wing structure than the original. What it did not get is a long run: Brickset lists the expected exit for December 2026, which would make it roughly two years and eight months at retail. UCS sets in the $200 to $250 band tend to go quickly, and this one is following the pattern.
The demand data is solid rather than frantic. 7,097 Brickset members own one and 3,258 want one, for a Heat Index of 94.9. The rating tells a slightly different story. At 4.1 out of 5 it scores lower than the other big December exits, and the usual complaint is price: 11.9 cents per piece is steep for a set with two figures and no interior. That gap between "want" and "love" is exactly what tends to close once a set is no longer on the shelf.

1,931 pieces build a ship about 55 cm wide and 38 cm tall on its stand, with the dagger-shaped wings, cockpit interior, cannons and rear engine detail the plaque describes.
